About Selamat Designs

Selamat Designs was founded in 1988 to make an interesting use of the vast quantities of wood off-cuts left over after production of large pieces of furniture in Indonesia. The wood off-cuts were utilized to make a stylish group of office and home accessories that launched Selamat Designs into national prominence. Over the years, customers began demanding larger and larger pieces. As a result, Selamat Designs was able to expand into the production of occasional furniture, such as tables, dining sets, chairs and deep-seating, and began integrating the use of new exotic materials, such as rattan, bamboo, leather, marble, onyx and a selection of other tropical hardwoods into its product line. Selamat employs only the highest skilled craftsmen who use select timbers of mahogany and teak, marrying them with exotic materials such as rattan, leather, bamboo and onyx to create a diverse array of furniture and accessories. “Created to be classic” is Selamat Designs’ vision and driving philosophy. Every piece of furniture and accessory the company offers tells a tale – a classic story for every occasion. Selamat Designs works with a broad range of customers – from individual designers seeking quality furniture for their clients’ homes to large commercial designers to catalog companies.
